Old Stavanger seen from above

Stavanger · Rogaland

The city that grew around a harbour.

Stavanger is built around Vågen. Herring, canning and oil have shaped the city, but it is the wooden houses, the alleys and the harbour that make it a place people want to live.

The wooden-house city

White, close-knit and alive.

Old Stavanger is one of Europe's best-preserved areas of wooden houses. The houses are small, the gardens even smaller – and that is exactly why they are among the most sought-after addresses in the city.

Listed and protected houses have their own rules for maintenance and alterations. That is something we factor in before the home goes on the market.
